  • Yearly Reminder

    By Andrea Menzies

This is my yearly reminder post that this is NOT my first year teaching. I still have the badges from my years teaching in 2009/10/11 in Austin, TX. I worked there for years after getting my University degree. I am on my third year teaching in Richmond. I took two years off for surgeries years ago, and now everyone strangely thinks I am “newly” employed.

  • Back to School

A repost from one of my last working days before summer break 2023. I first started teaching in 2004 in Austin, TX and started teaching in Richmond, VA in 2019.

  • Training Needed

I have worked as a substitute in both Texas and Virginia, and was startled by how little training they give Virginia substitute teachers. We had weeks more training in Texas every year, and clearly more is needed.
