  • Public Shooting at District 5

    First published July 22nd 2020

I was in an Public Shooting at District 5 dance club last night where I was Uber driving people home! I was right next to the shooting! It was 10 feet away from my face! I saw the light of the gun muzzle fire as he shot many times into a large crowd! I did not get hit and my van is okay as well! I did not know my little van could peel-out that fast!

“Screw whoever needs a ride!” I said as I drove away at break-neck speed!

From my Facebook Post about this issue this is what locals has to say about this event:

        • Jackie Bishop Wells Jesus. Was it inside the club or outside?
        • Andrea E. Menzies In the parking lot outside the club. There was a long line outside the club to get inside it was next to the line. I was so busy driving away once I saw the bullets and heard screaming I did not stay long to see if he went inside.

Later on in July 2020 the Richmond Times Dispatch newspaper did run a story on the public shooting I witnessed. Only one person fully was hit with bullets. Due to many people hitting the ground to avoid bullet fire, and blood spatter my original estimate of number of people hit in the shooting was higher. I have never been shot at in my hometown of Austin so I am unused to blog etiquette on shooting. Below in yellow is the Foursquare swarm app screen shot of when I checked in at District 5 just after the shooting.

  • Headed Out In Austin

Headed out with friends after getting into Austin, TX. Much of the weather problems with double hurricanes and flooding hitting the coast did not bother flights near Austin today.

  • In Atlanta Today

I made it to Atlanta, Georgia today in good weather. The place is huge, and the food is good. So far I am on time for my trip to Austin.

  • Hot Time

I am from Austin, Texas originally, and went to ALL of High School there. Just because I am visiting from Virginia right now does NOT mean it is a great to flood me with messages about how I don’t know how hot it is. I do know very well! If I have a bunch of Texas friends on my Facebook and Instagram you likely MET me IN Austin. I have gotten flooded with “you don’t know” Texas comments since I mentioned I am visiting my friends and family having emergencies right now. Strange!

  • The Rains

Massive rains and continue in the Virginia area. Due to the pandemic there are few places open to go to as flooding and power outages hit the area. Jobs are limited so paying for all this damage will be extra hard to accomplish.

  • Useful Warning

I just spent 10 hours at my house with no power using this flashlight. None of the weather apps on my phone warned me of severe weather issues in my area! The power finally came back on just now. I could smell hundreds of dollars in food going bad in the refrigerator while I waited. Not fun in a pandemic where getting money to replace lost food is hard to do. I changed the weather apps on my phone to better rated apps with more storm warnings. Some advanced notice that we were about to get clobbered by severe weather would have been VERY useful!

  • Podcast Webpage Edits

My Podbean podcast FH7 Publishing Book Reviews has been down for a few days for website edits. It should be back online for Tuesday updates for sewing book reviews. I will try not to turn this into a sewing journal, but mask making for Coronavirus has made me want to sew one million things!

  • Up and Sewing

My new sewing machine is up and running! I have already fixed 8 things that had 4 inch holes. I am not an absolute beginner as I used to sew with my grandmother as a kid. However it was obvious I needed a refresher. You cannot always go to the closed stores to buy new things when in quarantine. In addition sewing can make masks. Therefore this is a great time to go on a sewing kick. I will be reviewing my latest sewing book on my book review podcast later this week at FH7publishing.com
