  • Memorial Day Memory

This year marks the anniversary of the death of my father lieutenant colonel Neil Menzies from his war wounds in Vietnam and Korea. He was in the Army, and he died of his combat wounds when I was 4 years old. He is wearing his uniform in this photo, and I am the baby. My mother’s father also died of combat due to a plane bombing over Japan in WW2 and so the women in my family are many generations of war widows. Memorial Day is always a sad day for us yearly.

  • Travel Delay

It turns out my trips to New Orleans and Austin are going to be after mid July of 2023. Family illness has caused a change of plans as I have to house and pet sit. Oh well no early vacation start this year after I finish teacher work before Summer break.

  • Change Beds

When you try to switch beds to sleep better.

  • Visit to Texas

I am going to Texas this Summer. If any Austin area friends are reading this please message me if you are okay with me sleeping on your sofa for a couple of days in the Summer. I am homesick for Texas, and teachers have Summers off.

  • Old is New

    By Andrea Menzies

In the world of high technology everything old is new again. The newest Insignia Fire TV has one heck of a TV antenna in it, and a great channel search for broadcast TV. As people flee cable TV in masses due to streaming services being better people are switching back to the airwaves for local news. Newer televisions now flaunt an antenna. Everyone at my house now has a Fire TV with an antenna put on it.

“They doubled my cable bill.” Said Anne Brockett before shutting off the cable. I agree it has been ridiculous for a while.

  • Mother’s Day Party

My mom Anne, my daughter Alexandria, and I all had a mother’s day party for the weekend. Here are the best photos.

  • Friends List Cleaning

I am doing a friend’s list cleaning due to stalkers online. I tried online dating as I hate being single, and horrible people said psycho things to me. Then when I would not date them they wrote mean things on my Facebook. How pathetic is their life that they had nothing to do but harassment of a single mother on Mother’s Day weekend? I have hated all the men I have dated in Virginia, but Virginia men have shown me new levels of pathetic this week.

  • Placebo Nightmare

I would like to point out I am on NO antidepressants, and have not taken any in years. My life has always been better without antidepressants, and it was human sewage that tried to convince me I needed them. Sometimes outrage or sadness is the APPROPRIATE response in that it makes you want to escape abusive situations. If you are in a horrible situation and abusers are trying to make you take so many drugs that you don’t notice the abuse it may be the abusive people and NOT you that is the issue. It may be that your life and surroundings needing some change is the real problem. Just as doctors over prescribed opioids at dangerous extremes they are doing the same with antidepressants now.
