    Not A Luxury

    By Andrea Menzies

In the early 2000s I tried to join the Army to get full time work and healthcare. A year and a half later I had not finished basic training due to asthma attacks, never got benefits or healthcare, and had to go to rape counseling for years due to extreme military abuse causing depression. I graduated high school on the honors program, and completed my University degree as I had no depression before then. Lack of healthcare began horrific pain in my life lasting years. Our healthcare system doesn’t sometimes blame the victims; it always blames the victims. I still don’t have healthcare from my job. Bernie Sanders did not win the presidential election, and a man was elected that has tried to destroy what few advances Obamacare was able to make. He also destroyed funding to female rape programs as he has been accused of rape 13 times. People are shot every day, but the CEO killer is making the news due to the fear that he may be the first killer in mass waves of violence against the government unless real changes happen. #CEOkiller #2024HealthNews #LuigiQuotes

  • Pickings Slim

    Pickings Slim

    By Andrea Menzies

I have decided to try online dating again since I am sick of being single. Unfortunately the pickings are slim. It is my vow to never date a man from any part of Virginia due to my absolute soul deep hatred for every square foot of Virginia. My every attempt at socializing in downtown Virginia has ended in death threats and fleeing for my life. In Texas this never happened at all.

In other news my new mini travel bed is so great! I am super prepared for a new road trip.

If Bernie Sanders healthcare ideas were taken more seriously people would not feel so much empathy with the recent CEO killer.

The new Nosferatu movie does look amazing. I am likely going to watch Scrooged again for certain and will wish the night the reindeer died was a real film.

    Good Behavior

    By Andrea Menzies

I am a teacher right now, and there are big debates on how to be a role model for behavior. Meanwhile when I was a kid people watched cartoon characters blowing each other up, and that was just a-okay. In real life no one is perfect.

    Last Day

I am still working at Amazon, but about to go on leave. My other job called me two weeks ago needing me to work more hours so I put in notice. One of the rough things about being at a crazy job is they are all crazy jobs, and you just have to find what crazy works for you. At Amazon they drug test constantly so at least it leaves a long paper trail on me not being a party animal at all. I have never failed a drug test at any job, and this reference helps prove it. Ironically a huge set of news reports dropped on Amazon right as I was packing up.

  • New BlueSky Profile

    New BlueSky Profile

    By Andrea Menzies

Bluesky is a new social media app people are using. My profile is here @Poedaughter7.bsky.social if you want to add me to friends. I am fully terrified of how many crazed right winged politicians keep showing up in news photos with social media owners these days. Also my email is getting packed with spam from all the social media that said it would “never” sell my information. I can see why people want to try something new. Old social media uses an algorithm to decide what we “want” to see, and it often picks very wrong. Somedays I think we should all just switch back to Myspace, Yahoo, and Livejournal for updates.

Here is the NPR story on Bluesky:

    https://www.npr.org/2024/11/19/g-s1-34898/bluesky-traffic-surge-after-election

The day after the presidential election, the social media landscape shook.

On Elon Musk’s X, more than 115,000 users deactivated their accounts, the largest-ever mass exit from the platform. At the same time, traffic on Bluesky, a smaller rival to X, began to soar, with daily usage climbing some 500% in the U.S., according to data from Similarweb.

“We’ve been growing by about a million users a day for several days,” said Bluesky CEO Jay Graber in an interview with NPR on Monday. “It’s proving out the model that we thought would be the right approach to social [media]: Give people the tools to control their experience and they’ll have a better time.” Putting more control in the hands of users is what distinguishes Bluesky from X, formerly Twitter, and other rival social media sites.

Rather than having one “master algorithm,” Bluesky allows for a more personalized experience. By default, there are three main feeds: One shows accounts you follow, another shows what your friends follow and a “discover” feed surfaces posts linked to your interests.”

    Drive Time

Things may have issues in my town, but my car is working again after repairs. I can travel to better lands soon. An old acquaintance got mad when I would not date her mean and ugly brother, and has been spreading rumors about me all over downtown.  She is unfortunately a popular bar tender, and can spread bad gossip all day long. People in the state I am in blindly go along with lies asking for no real proof at all. Just because something has been said many times does not make it true. This has fully destroyed night life for me in the Virginia area forever. Fortunately there are many good music shows and social events outside Virginia for the holidays, and I am going to go there soon with my newly working vehicle. I plan to move away from this state I hate with all my soul soon as my life was so much better in other areas that it is beyond describing.

  • The Pain Hole

    The Pain Hole

    By Andrea Menzies

    A poem by Andrea Menzies

From my new book of poems I am going to publish online called “Poems From The Pain Hole: A Collection Of Poems About An Abuse Toilet That Claims To Be A State.”

1 All of Virginia is a nightmare hole of pain,

2 the agony is not hard to explain.

3 The second I leave it goes away,

4 Agony is Virginia’s game to play.

5 Ugly men and a pathetic music scene!

6 Symptom of a land eating women’s dreams!

7 I have not had one single happy memory in ya,

8 Ugly-ugly sewage hole called Virginia.

9 There is not one single good redeeming town

10 when first here I looked desperately around.

11 Now I know a future happy day

12 will only happen with Virginia far away.

13 Have not had one single happy memory in ya,

14 Ugly-ugly sewage hole called Virginia.
