  • In Atlanta Today

I made it to Atlanta, Georgia today in good weather. The place is huge, and the food is good. So far I am on time for my trip to Austin.

  • Hot Time

I am from Austin, Texas originally, and went to ALL of High School there. Just because I am visiting from Virginia right now does NOT mean it is a great to flood me with messages about how I don’t know how hot it is. I do know very well! If I have a bunch of Texas friends on my Facebook and Instagram you likely MET me IN Austin. I have gotten flooded with “you don’t know” Texas comments since I mentioned I am visiting my friends and family having emergencies right now. Strange!

  • The Rains

Massive rains and continue in the Virginia area. Due to the pandemic there are few places open to go to as flooding and power outages hit the area. Jobs are limited so paying for all this damage will be extra hard to accomplish.

  • Useful Warning

I just spent 10 hours at my house with no power using this flashlight. None of the weather apps on my phone warned me of severe weather issues in my area! The power finally came back on just now. I could smell hundreds of dollars in food going bad in the refrigerator while I waited. Not fun in a pandemic where getting money to replace lost food is hard to do. I changed the weather apps on my phone to better rated apps with more storm warnings. Some advanced notice that we were about to get clobbered by severe weather would have been VERY useful!

  • Night Storms

I am in part of the Northeast that got slammed with hurricane storms last night. I am okay, and not in the hospital. Street lights were broken, but the street was not washed away. Thank heaven for small wonders, and remember things can always get worse. Thanks to everyone posting worried messages about me online last night.

  • New Hurricane

Virginia has a hurricane AND a pandemic this week. Joy. That “joy” was ironic.

  • The Shooting Part 3

More news on the strange shooting last weekend that I witnessed from Richmond Times-Dispatch. One of the things True Crime podcast’s and TV show’s killers (which almost get away with murder) always do is try to commit crimes in private areas. Shooting people in a very public place leaves hundreds of witnesses making get away impossible. I did not expect that level of dumb to be going on, but it turns out that is what happened. It took a few days for news to get slow enough to report on the events.

    *

The number of shootings I have been next to in Austin and New Orleans was zero. One of the big reasons I miss living there so much.

Next I was messaged many times by Internet friends saying some guys was making up stories about me hallucinating the entire story. I put him on user block with the following statement:  “I blocked that guy. Obviously an abusive jerk. Sadly that is very common in Virginia. One of the reasons I miss Texas so badly is that Virginia is cram-packed to exploding with the most abusive people in America. I was begging my family to leave Virginia daily even before last weekend.”

  • The Shooting Part 2

    The Shooting Part 2

At long last the news gave a tiny bit of coverage to the shooting I saw. The shooter opened fire on a large group, but was only going for one guy. He injured, but did not kill the victim. Sadly there are SO MANY horrible things going on in the world right now the news can’t give long coverage to EVERY story daily. They only have a half-hour per night so we do not see every beating, rape, shooting, and other crime activity cops are called on in a week.

I am just glad to know why it was a thing. It was done in front of many people in a very public setting. I had no way of knowing who or what he was really trying to shoot. Sitting around and watching the shooting may have cost me my life if he WAS shooting all the people at the club.
