  • Thanksgiving Dinner

    By Andrea Menzies

Thanksgiving Dinner with the family. My daughter is visiting from out of town to dinner.

  • Top School Photos of the Week

I am still employed as a teacher, and here are my top School Photos of the Week before Thanksgiving Holiday Break 2023.

  • Old Halloween

People think Samhain is the only origin of Halloween, but really the October Thesmorphoria rites were an origin in addition. The end of October is when Hades had to return Persephone back to her mother to change the seasons. This is why the spirit world grows close, and scary death images are normal as old world tradition.

“While the Thesmophoria acted as a pre-harvest ritual, the festival also celebrated Persephone’s return from the Underworld. The myth was therefore deeply intertwined with the festival’s rituals.”

  • Phone Dead

My phone fell out of my bag and got smashed. I will not be returning phone calls this week, but I am not ignoring people. My new replacement phone is in the mail now my number will not be changing. The timing of this sucks due to it being almost Halloween, and I have many activities to do this time of year.

  • Hunan Birthday

I had birthday dinner at Hunan Gardens in Fredericksburg, VA with Anne, and Alexandria. The service was friendly, the platters were huge, and the food was delicious. It is my new favorite place in Fredericksburg.

  • Birthday Well Wishes

Thanks in advance to all well wishers of a Happy Birthday on the 7th of October! Birthdays make me realize how far I am from better towns where nicer people gave me amazing parties. I am far from my REAL home in this town most obviously on my birthday.

  • Strange Mail

    The Strange Letter

Weeks ago when I was super sick with Covid someone named Micheal tired to tell me there was something wrong with my car. I had never told them about the make and model of my car, or let them walk me to my car so how did they know anything happened with it? Creepy stalker crap this seemed to be. Then another strange thing happened with my mail. The Mercury club in Seattle, WA wanted to offer me a membership. I applied for membership YEARS ago when I was visiting my aunt Trish living in Bothell a suburb of Seattle, and they said I lived too far away. I had never given The Mercury my new address, and yet mail had been forwarded from one of my older Virginia addresses to me! How did they MAIL that crap? How is Virginia LESS far? Stalkers-stalkers all around! Proof positive people are sharing information about me behind my back, and getting it wrong.

I am a domestic abuse survivor, and have had many ex-boyfriends many times steal money from me, punch me bloody in the face, and stomach. People on the Internet need to STOP forking information over to “friends” who say they want to “help” women in that stalker criminals say that sort of thing too ALL the TIME. The Internet is sadly a treasure trove of dangerous information and misinformation. I have been to some great night clubs, with fun nights, and had good relationships in other areas. In Virginia the clubs are nothing but con-artist abuse factories for bad men meeting new victims. This is why I go on SO MANY road trips out of state, and go FAR away to be social as often as I can hit the road by car, or Amtrak, or road bike. This is why I keep a P.O. box far from my home. An important aspect of data privacy many Internet chat boards forget to mention is do not use home addresses. Simply put don’t talk about women’s personal information behind their back you are NOT helping them, and getting it very wrong.

  • Cafe Birthday Dinner

Alexandria Menzies had her birthday party dinner today. We had Italian food at a really good place called Basilico before we dropped her back off at the University of Washington campus covered in mountain bikes. It really inspired me to fix up my bike again.

  • Yearly Reminder

    By Andrea Menzies

This is my yearly reminder post that this is NOT my first year teaching. I still have the badges from my years teaching in 2009/10/11 in Austin, TX. I worked there for years after getting my University degree. I am on my third year teaching in Richmond. I took two years off for surgeries years ago, and now everyone strangely thinks I am “newly” employed.

  • School Return

    By: Andrea Menzies

I had a good week returning to work at Manchester High School. For teacher work the school year is hitting full swing.

Yes I do still work full time as a teacher. I may look pretty relaxed in the summer, but I do still return to work in the fall.
