  • 2020 Discord app Beware

Someone in my house got banned from Discord video game chat app today for selling things. Discord links to Patreon that SELLS THINGS ALL DAY in great monthly membership packages! How is it even a thing? They dislike sales as they DO sales? I was just helping my sister’s kids make a profile so they could make more Pokemon and Warcraft friends. We really were JUST looking for friends. People who are really nice or friendly are so rare in modern day their actions are always doubted. We are just the sort of people who would have bought things from Patreon users selling Discord services. Way to blow a future sale! Everyone paying for subscriptions to video games works a job paying for the games. All the jobs have a URL in modern day. Since most people don’t wallow in self-hatred they do not hide their job and hobby accomplishments. If you don’t work people call you lazy, but if you do and don’t hide the products of labor people can try to call you a spammer. If a man worked for Walmart, and said to his gamer friends “Sorry guys I can’t play the main boss until I am done with my Walmart shift.” And the person had the Walmart sales URL on his uniform as his profile photo would that person also have a ban? By their logic he would.

Discord links to Patreon making it seem sales friendly. My sister’s kids didn’t even ask for people to buy things, and they just had part of a deleted sales URL on their profile before the ban. I helped make the profile, and did not think they would care. If people Googled the sales URL that is what THEY decided to do! I did not ask them to do it. When Facebook is mad at you they just ban people for a few days so they can learn. Discord is just burning their bridges shutting off the people who would use their Patreon services. I was going to use Discord with my Patreon account, but now I fully think they are bad to work with for anyone.

My Patreon account will NO LONGER have any Discord links on it as of this week. I was confused that more people were not using the app that seemed fun. It is now obvious to me that it unpopular due to it being hated. I Googled them and Twitter verified massive hate of Discord. As a person with a podcast that reviews books I sometimes review video-game books. It is a VAST book market. I will have to mention how badly Discord treats users in my house in my next video game book podcast. It is clear that like Bitcoin and Crypto-currency many people are using gaming video services to hide income from their ex-wife, the cops, the IRS, and social workers. If you look like someone who may “report” their secret society they are quick to shut you out. Glad I found out before I was in too deep.
