October of 2021 has been a great month for concerts. People are so happy to be back out after the pandemic that people are super friendly at events. I happened to run into Bryan Sage a performer for the Severed Skies music project local to Richmond, Virginia as he opened for Stoneburner last week. I noticed he had a great deal of cassette tapes in his merchandise booth next to t-shirts, stickers, pins, and CDs. I asked him if he sells any, and he had this to say.
“Strangely cassette tapes have made a big come-back lately.” Bryan said. “I have a special company up in Canada that makes them. People love buying cassettes these days as it is now considered vintage.”
Bryan has a new album out. It is available on digital download and CD, but he has no plans to stop selling the cassettes.

Interview: Jason Wallach
Update on Unquiet Void Projects
Blog Date October 17, 2021
I was out and about at GWAR bar this month. As Halloween magic would have it I happened to run into some fun friends. One went by the name of Jason Wallach performer for the music project of The Unquiet Void. A fresh transplant from the Long Island and New York, New York area Jason plans to keep making music in the Virginia area now that he has moved back here as a permanent resident. I decided to interview and question him on his early work on Dark Noel was one of my most loved songs a few years back.
“I started out performing as Frank Furter in the Rocky Horror Picture show.” Jason said concerning the daring of the dawn of his performing career. “Yet my interest in the character as a teenager had less to do with him being transsexual, and more to do with me enjoying the flamboyance.”

The Stoneburner King of Wolves tour 2021 was amazing last night! Great lights, videos, and amazing sound mixes made the music show amazing. In addition it is one of the first good shows to happen after the pandemic so everyone was friendly and nice. It feels SO great to get out of the house for shows again! If you are in a town near their tour list I give this show a five star review, and say get your tickets NOW. Unfortunately you have to buy the tickets online at Eventbright, have a digital ticket code, and have a vaccination card to get in so be prepared for a tricky entrance process.

I am super sleepy 😴 from working two jobs for two companies this week. However a student in one of my classes drew me a Tiger 🐅 , and a good concert is in town so it looks like this weekend is going to be great.

My plans to visit New Orleans for Halloween got destroyed this week. Not only is the Delta variant still destroying plans, but hurricane Ida that hit New Orleans this year is still destroying plans. I made a hotel reservation to visit New Orleans for their giant events for Halloween 2021. Halloween is usually a huge boost to New Orleans tourism due to many parades next to above ground cemeteries in a town with a reputation as a “haunted” looking vintage city. Jazz Festivals, rare concerts, book signings, and fiction conventions all plan October dates in New Orleans. Plus I went to school there for years so I enjoy saying hi to school friends when people are out and about for events. People fly in from all over the world to see a New Orleans Halloween. Unfortunately then the hotel I booked at refunded my money as I had NOT asked to cancel the reservation!
It turns out “first responders” as they call themselves are still living in all the hotels MONTHS after the storm, and have restored very little as town residents are still living in tents months later. They are paying a fraction of what visitors normally pay for the Jazz Festival and Halloween hotels, and destroying the October tourist trade. (The hotel mentioned to me in an angry phone message as they were forced to cancel my reservation without asking.) In addition New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival canceled the October event a few weeks ago (as cited in this article here https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/02/travel/new-orleans-ida-tourism.html), citing concerns about an increase in coronavirus cases so it seems the government is trying to destroy New Orleans under the disguise of “emergency help” to the town. Oh well I just console myself by knowing it can’t be closed forever, and there will be other years. Being stuck in Virginia is a super-crapy substitute for a real New Orleans visit for Halloween, but I will try to make the best of it.
